Hello Dawn Lee,
I've been meaning to write you and let you know how things are going with my
little black pup. She is 7 ½ months old now.
I named her Phoebe. She has been an absolute delight. Happy and energetic, but
not hyper. Cooperative for everything. She loves riding in the car and even if
she can't get out, she waits nicely without chewing anything til I get back.
She loves taking long walks in the woods and always stays right with me. She
learned very quickly with housebreaking and coming when I call. She learned to
sit and fetch very easily, now we are working on bringing me my slippers and
putting away her toys. She LOVES everyone, especially children. I am feeding
her Innova dry and canned food and sometimes oatmeal with cottage cheese and
corn or peas. She likes raw carrots and apple chunks and cheese. The only thing
she ever turned her nose up at was plain yogurt. She only chews her toys. She
loves her bath and is cooperative for the groomer. She rides in the "front pack"
with me happily. I've made her a box on the back of my bicycle and am looking
forward to warmer weather so we can venture out together. She is wonderfully
affectionate with everyone, but with me especially, and she is so cute that
people are constantly stopping to admire her when we are out. They always ask
what breed she is, and they always say "Oh, I've never seen a black one before!"
After her bath, I give her a final rinse of a rosemary tea I make, and it makes
her black coat very shiny.
I could gush on forever. I feel like I hit the jackpot with her.
I have a couple questions that you would be best to answer..........at what age
can I expect her to be her full grown weight ? ........and do ShiTzus like to
swim?
I am so happy with her. Thank you for all of your efforts of special care during
her infancy, because I truely believe that makes a huge difference in the dogs
mental health.
