ANSWER: We discuss the cost of acquiring one of our puppies on our "Cost & Contracts" page.
QUESTION: Do you recommend Water Bottles?
ANSWER: YES, helps to keep their beards dry.
QUESTION: Do you recommend Crate Training?
ANSWER: YES, to provide a sanctuary.
QUESTION: How often is the dam bred?
ANSWER: Once per year or less.
QUESTION: Can you provide me with references and telephone numbers of other people who have purchased your puppies?
ANSWER: YES, and you may see some of the people we have placed puppies with on "OUR SHIH TZU FRIENDS" page, and our "TESTIMONIALS" page.
QUESTION: Will the puppy have a limited registration with a mandatory spay/neuter contract?
ANSWER: YES, Unless you are a breeder with a philosophy similar to ours, in which case we can provide an unlimited registration.
QUESTION: On what basis was the sire chosen?
ANSWER: Genetic background, Temperament, Pedigree, Size, Color, etc.
QUESTION: How long have you been breeding Shih Tzu? Do you trace health problems in the dogs you sell? Have you carefully researched the genetic problems that may lurk in the background of your lines?
ANSWER: 28 years plus, and YES.
QUESTION: Will you take the dog back at any time, for any reason, if I could not keep it?
ANSWER: As a part of our written contract, if you are unable to care for the puppy we will help in finding a loving home.
QUESTION: Will you be available for the life of the dog to answer any questions I might have?
ANSWER: Yes, assuming we out live the dog.
QUESTION: Are you involved in competition with your dogs (conformation, obedience, agility)?
ANSWER: We have shown (confirmation) in the past, however we are unable to show currently - Tom is building a small agility course by our home so our children can get involved in the show aspect.
QUESTION: Do you sell puppies to pet shops or commercial pet mill establishments, donate puppies for raffles or auctions, crossbreed or sell crossbred puppies, or give stud service to unregistered bitches?
ANSWER: NO - NONE OF THE ABOVE.
QUESTION: Are there a majority of titled dogs (the initials CH, CD, etc. before or after the names) in the first two generations?
ANSWER: YES, with the exception of dogs that would not meet the weight requirement.
QUESTION: Are the puppy's sire and dam available for me to meet?
ANSWER: Yes, with the exception of pick puppies, which is rare.
QUESTION: Are you knowledgeable about raising puppies, critical neonatal periods, and proper socialization techniques?
ANSWER: YES.
QUESTION: Do you provide a 3-5 generation pedigree, a complete health record, and material to help with feeding, grooming, training, and housebreaking?
ANSWER: YES
QUESTION: Where does the White go when the snow melts?
ANSWER: Don't know.
QUESTION: Do you advise to have the puppy checked by a veterinarian within 2 days (48 hours) of sale, with additional time allowed if the puppy is sold on a Saturday or Sunday, and provide a written agreement to refund the purchase price or take the puppy back and replace it if it is found to be unfit by a veterinarian?
ANSWER: Yes, however, it is not advised - it is a requirement.
QUESTION: Has the puppy received the necessary immunizations and been checked for parasites and treated if necessary? Are you knowledgeable about and working to control and/or eradicate conditions, including those that are particular to the breed, such as renal dysplasia, portal systemic shunt, hip and eye problems, allergies, Von Willebrands disease, thyroid disorders, and inguinal hernias?
ANSWER: YES
QUESTION: Have the puppies' temperaments been evaluated and can you guide me to the puppy that will best suit my lifestyle?
ANSWER: YES
QUESTION: Do you have a written guarantee?
ANSWER: YES, and we discuss our contract on our "Cost & Contracts" page.
QUESTION: Do you have 1 or 2 breeds of dogs and only 1 litter at a time?
ANSWER: Only the Shih Tzu.
